La photographie - pourquoi ?

When I'm struck by someone's skill or artistry, by the beauty of a place, by a fleeting event that will never happen again, I try to record what my eyes see and the emotion I feel.

Since I don’t have the talent to put those moments into words, I raise the viewfinder to my eye and hope that the resulting image will do justice to the experience through the alchemy of art and science that we call photography.

Lorsque je suis émerveillé par l'habileté artistique, par la beauté d’un lieu, par un événement fugace qui ne se reproduira jamais, j'essaie d’enregistrer ce que voient mes yeux et l'émotion que je ressens.
Puisque je n’ai pas le talent pour décrire ces moments-là avec des mots, je me sers du viseur dans l'espoir que l'image qui en résultera fera honneur à l'instant grâce à l'alchimie entre art et science que nous appelons la photographie.
